What grants are available in Ireland, how much and how do I apply?

What is available?
A private EV owner can apply for a grant of up to €600 against the cost of installing a home charger. The scheme is run by the Government through the SEAI.
Are there conditions attached?
There are some conditions but none too onerous. We can help you through the process if you have any concerns about it. The main eligibility criteria are that:
– You must have bought the vehicle after January 1st 2018
– You must be the owner of the vehicle
– You must have off street parking

On Street parking options
In July of 2021, the first attempts were made by government to address the issue of homes with no off street parking. Minister Eamon Ryan announced funding for a scheme to address this.
Domestic Solar Panels
The Solar PV Scheme provides a once-off grant towards the purchase and installation of solar photovoltaic (PV) panels and/or a battery energy storage system in homes. These are grants that are available to homeowners in Ireland through the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI).
What is available?
The total maximum grant available for domestic solar panels is €3,000. This is split €2,400 for your PV system and €600 towards the cost of a battery.
Are there conditions attached?
To apply for the grant under this scheme, you are required to apply and receive approval prior to commencing the work. This grant may only be claimed once and is subject to the following:
– You must be the owner of a house built prior to 2011
– You must use a registered, Safe Electric Installer
– You must use new materials that are not already covered by any other grant
Once you have completed the work, you will require a Declaration of Works completed by the registered installer and you will be required to conduct a Building Energy Rating (BER) on the building.
